Talk:BlackBerry For Deaf & Hard of Hearing

From BlackBerryFAQ

Hello, I am a deaf person looking around the best devices I can get. I did owned and uses T-Mobile Sidekick I & II. Sidekick II became problemtic with spammers coming in the inbox which was very annoying! I was told Sidekick II was never design or make better to block spammers out ( non filter features to block ). So I am looking at Blackberry devices to make better informed decision whether to buy or not. I was particulat interested in Blackberry for several reasons but which models is best for me? That is some shopping to do to find out more! lol

One of those reasons I am interested in Blackberry was because I found out you can do FAX on this blackberry. I needed FAX service because I am tired of dealing with Medical professionals telling me : no... no... we are not comfortable of using email with you due to non-secure line"

So can you imagine my frustrations as a deaf person dealing with that?!

Can this fax be done to serve deafies in the future?

Hope to see that future devices will add on fax service for deaf to make it better accesable for comunication purposes.

You can receive faxes on your BlackBerry, or any device able to receive email. Look into a fax to email service. In a nutshell, when someone sends you a fax its received by your fax to email provider. They convert it into PDF (or similiar) document and forward it to your email address. And the reverse works as well. You can send an email, including attachments, to a particular email address and they will receive a fax. --d_fisher 04:18, 9 May 2008 (UTC)
